Abate Sauvignon

FRIULI COLLI ORIENTALI
DENOMINAZIONE DI ORIGINE CONTROLLATA

These wines are born with the 2019 harvest from a project shared with the Friends Gianni Menotti, a well-known winemaker, and Augusto Fabbro, a long-experienced agronomist, aimed at selecting the most representative grapes only in the best years. Near the abbey of Manzano, where the Benedictine monks began the cultivation of vines more than a thousand years ago, we wanted to dedicate particular care to two vineyards located in Via Abate Corrado from which the name ABATE derives. They are grown in an environmentally friendly way with low environmental impact products and can thus boast the SQNPI certification (National Integrated Production Quality System).

The Sauvignon vineyard, since 1994, is positioned on a terrace that is optimally exposed in the North-East, taking the sun in the early morning only, to save the aromas, also enjoying the breeze that caresses these hills magically positioned between the Alps and the Adriatic Sea. The soil is the classic “marna”, a sedimentary rock composed mainly of clay, rich in mineral substances: the fertilizations and dedicated processes, carefully carried out by our collaborators, Cristian, Marco and Antonino, allow us to obtain excellent quality grapes, harvested and selected by hand, which give rise to these wines rich in body and aromas thanks to the careful vinification of Michele, oenologist of our cellar and Giacomo.

All together with the “irreplaceable” Paola we decided on the graphic design of this selection which is produced in a limited number of bottles dedicated to fans of the great Friulian wines.

Optimal serving temperature 8-10°C as aperitif, with Tomatoes and Mozzarella, with fish and with “green food” as asparagus or vegetable soups.
